Frequently asked questions
Answers to the most common questions about Smart G-Scope
Do I need to install drivers to use Smart G-Scope?
No. Smart G-Scope uses the UVC (USB Video Class) standard and works plug-and-play on all operating systems (Windows, macOS, Android, Linux). The OS recognizes it automatically as a USB camera.
How do I adjust the microscope focus?
Smart G-Scope uses a liquid lens with fast autofocus. You can focus using the device button or the remote control and, depending on the mode, fine-tune it. Working distance goes from contact (high magnification) to practically infinity (low magnification).
Can I use Smart G-Scope with my Android phone?
Yes, as long as your device has a USB-C port with OTG (On-The-Go) support. Most modern Android phones are compatible. Download our app from the Software page and connect the microscope using the appropriate USB-C adapter.
Is the software compatible with macOS or Linux?
Officially we support Windows and Android. On macOS and Linux, the device is recognized as a standard UVC camera and can be used with third-party apps, but we do not guarantee all proprietary software features.
How do I calibrate the measurement tool?
In the Windows software, go to Settings > Calibration. Use a known-size reference (graduated ruler, calibration pattern) and follow the on-screen instructions. Recalibration is recommended when changing magnification.
How do I clean the microscope lens?
Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth. For persistent dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with isopropyl alcohol. Never use abrasive cleaners or submerge the device.
What magnification does Smart G-Scope provide?
The magnification range is approximately 10x in telescope mode and 40x, 100x, 180x and 250x in microscope mode. The device OLED and the software show an approximate magnification in real time.
How long is the warranty?
Smart G-Scope includes a 2-year manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Warranty does not cover misuse, drops, or product modifications.
Do I need a stand to use the microscope?
Not required, but a stand significantly improves stability and capture quality, especially at high magnification. We offer several models tailored to different applications.
How do I update the software?
Download the latest version from our Software page. You don't need to uninstall the previous version; the installer will update it automatically while keeping your preferences.
